Basic Cutting Tools

Cutting Tools

There are many different types of cutting tools available for lathes, but we're only going to focus on the HSS (high speed steel) variety for now. All tools are 1/4" square and approximately 2" long. They can be shaped with a grinding wheel as necessary to perform the desired operation or cut, but that will have to be in another lesson. Fortunately, six (6) pre-shaped cutting tools are available for immediate use.
